Spinnin’ might be known as the class leader when it comes to releasing commercially viable big room house, but there’s another side to the label that is starting to eclipse it’s bigger brother. Spinnin’ Deep has become a very familiar name on the Beatport Top 10, and with tracks like Dutch duo Redondo (pictured) and Ferreck Dawn’s latest effort, Something Else, it’s easy to see why.
A follow up to last year’s massive anthem Love Too Deep, the principle behind Something Else is much the same. Featuring a combination of catchy basslines, memorable vocal hooks, sublime production, and just the right mix of underground appeal and mainstream sensibility, the track feels just at home in a small club as it does being spun by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Crucially, it’s clear that Something Else has been made purely to sound good, and any chart position or major radio play is just a happy coincidence. In a time when deep house is more popular than ever, this philosophy certainly goes a long way.
Something Else is out now exclusively on Beatport.
