To progress, a genre must be injected with fresh, young talent every so often. While trance doesn’t boast the sheer volume of upstarts like its hotter counterparts in house, established trance labels like Armada and Anjunabeats allow existing talent to feature their genius to the world with ease. In some cases, it helps bring them together for first-ever collaborations.
Case in point is Rebound, an electrified banger by trance wunderkinds Arty and Mat Zo (pictured) that immediately grabbed “Tune of the Week” on TATW, and then was dropped by pretty much every huge trance DJ at UMF. Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, and Gareth Emery all had this smoking ace up their sleeves. Each and every time, the song’s merciless analog line ripped through the crowd like a carpet bombing of pure energy.
Arty’s been on the rise nonstop with his rave-rocking remix of Ferry’s Punk (another huge UMF hit). The youngsters have been churning out hit after hit in the arena of progressive trance for the past year, with no signs of slowing down whatsoever.
