Ratatat Shares ‘Abrasive’ And More Tour Dates

Guitar virtuoso-duo Ratatat follows up their first release after their five-year hiatus, Cream On Chrome, with another riotous original they’ve aptly titled Abrasive.

Proving that they haven’t lost their rock swagger, the track layers in as many as 30 guitars at its harmonic peak, tapering off at suspenseful interludes before again exploding back in energetic full-force. It’s another instant hit that packs the energy found in the group’s older classic, Seventeen Years, and the memorable harmonies of Loud Pipes.

The accompanying animated video is drawn by the duo’s own E. Vax (pictured left) and comprises of over 4,000 illustrations, confirming that Ratatat’s preference for minute detail extends past their musical productions into their visuals as well.

On the tail-end of their energetic comeback at Coachella 2015, the Brooklyn-based duo have expanded their tour to begin with the album release show at NYC’s Webster Hall and continue with 21 more tour stops. Look for their fifth studio album Manifique out July 17 via XL Recordings, and watch the video for Abrasive below.
