Just coming off the massive success of his recent single Seek Bromance and his #39 ranking in the DJMag poll, Avicii is back with a big remix of Nadia Ali’s classic tune Rapture. Back in 2001, the original track peaked at #2 on the UK singles chart and launched the young Pakistani-American’s career into the international spotlight. She’s collaborated with the likes of Armin van Buuren multiple times, including his 2006 artist album Shivers. Multiple remixes have already been done for Rapture over the years, but none of them, including the original, come close to matching Avicii’s magic touch on this track.
Although Avicii keeps the vocals, they are mainly used to complement a new big-room house melody that takes center stage in the track. Rapture is bound to be a festival favorite for house DJs in the Spring and Summer, and I’m truly excited to hear this track live. It’s no exaggeration at this point to say that few artists are in Avicii’s league when it comes to uplifting house melodies–it’s hard to imagine saying something like that about a DJ who just turned 21, but I guess there are no age restrictions when it comes to talent.
