After posting a series of highly enticing teaser videos on their Facebook page, Canadian producer/DJ duo Rainer + Grimm is ready to unleash their remake of Usher’s 1997 You Make Me Wanna, and LessThan3 has the exclusive premiere.
Less than a year ago, Rainer + Grimm hit the scene with their first-ever release, an infectious bass-infused edit of Sam Smith’s Stay With Me fresh off the original’s debut. It was instantly picked up by nearly every major dance blog, racked up over three million SoundCloud hits, and was even played on Carson Daly’s live radio interview with Sam Smith himself. Since then, the dynamic duo has maintained their remix prowess with edits of Golden Coast’s Break My Fall, Years and Years’ Desire, and most recently, Jessie Ware’s Desire.
This time around, the duo has taken their capabilities to a whole new level, not only by tapping into the realm of old school R&B, but also by giving the original track a complete makeover with brand new production and vocals. They’ve boldly re-recorded Usher’s timeless lyrics, heavily toned down the pitch, and sped up the pace. Add the pair’s smooth and steady signature bassline, and you’ve got Usher like you’d never heard him before.
