London’s William Phillips, known to the dance music world as Tourist, dropped his excellent Patterns EP earlier this year via Method Records, a subsidiary of Ministry of Sound run by a scrappy young twosome who call themselves Disclosure (oh, you’ve heard of them?). That EP’s title track has since received the remix treatment from Hugh “Redlight” Pescod (pictured), and LessThan3 has the exclusive premiere.
The original mix of Patterns soars high above the competition thanks to some heavenly, gospel-style R&B vocals from Lianne La Havas–you’ll probably want to dig up that old VHS copy of Sister Act before the track is done. Redlight is smart to leave Havas’ vocals mostly untouched, but brings out the low end in a major way with a rumbling new bassline that serves as a fantastic counterpoint to the soulful hooks.
There’s no word of an official release for the remix just yet, so be sure to get your fill right here. Tourist’s Patterns EP is out now.
