Firepower Records newcomer Spol brings some bold, booty-shaking vibes to the seminal bass label with his newest release, dubbed Self Titled EP.
Spol, aka Shane Drisner, shared with us an exclusive first listen to his six-track release, which is packed with dirty twerk and trap vibes along with some big room and electro production, all with that unmistakable Firepower boom.
The lead-off track Diddy Pop earned the young producer some attention over the past week with its bass-heavy twerk feel, and the rest of the EP delivers more of that aggressive, hype-laden esthetic.
Like the title suggests, Mania shows off the crazier side of Spol with a big trap beat powered by rapid-fire snares that build into a plummeting drop ushered in by a maniacal vocal sample. Spol shows off his vocal abilities as Shane Drisner on Running, the big room-future R&B hybrid with a velvety-smooth, piano-driven breakdown before returning to the epic main section.
Not surprisingly, Thunder Twerk is built to move bodies beneath a downpour of claps and droplets called down by dancehall-inspired vocal samples similar to those in Mania. Time sees Spol continue to flex his big room muscles with hands-up synth and a four-on-the-floor pattern that gives way to a trap breakdown ready to turn up massive festival crowds all summer long. Self Titled EP finishes out in the filthiest of fashions with Whirlwind, a tempestuous torrent of trap rhythm and high-pitched synth peppered with hyped samples.
Big ups to Spol and Firepower for letting us bring you the goods a day early. Pre-order Self Titled EP here before it drops May 13.
