Burgeoning D&B producer Ben Williams, aka BMotion, exploded on scene last year with his massive tune Circles–a track that garnered support from the likes of High Contrast, Logistics, and publisher UKF, among others. Shortly after, the Welsh producer scored his first release on Viper Recordings–a grooving number called Summer Glow that was featured on the label’s Summer Slammers 2014 compilation.
Now as an official Viper artist, BMotion prepares what will be his third release on the famed label called Bear Hug/Vice City. The double-A-side EP is scheduled for a June 8 release and LessThan3 has the world premiere of the soulfully smooth tune Vice City.
Vice City’s throwback flair is evident from the onset, employing synthetic percussion, a punchy, Moog-styled bassline, and a distorted guitar riff reminiscent of 80s-era electronic rock. The track’s half-time rhythm and ’80s vibe soon secede, and a blistering D&B break rolls in and raises the energy quotient through the stratosphere. Vice City is incredibly accessible, amalgamating Brazilian D&B vibes circa 2002 with a more contemporary knees-above-elbows, dancefloor aesthetic.
