Here’s some music to chill out to. UK-based sensation Gold Panda keeps releasing electronica hit after hit. Born Derwin Panda, he’s had a pretty unique life, being born in the UK but having lived in Japan and studied at The School of Oriental and African Studies. I just stumbled upon his music for the first time when I saw his music video for his single Marriage. I was blown away by how perfectly the video matched the vibe of the song, not to mention the song itself and its feel of blissful innocence.
I dug deeper into Gold Panda, checking out the album that Marriage was on, Lucky Shiner. From the get-go I was thoroughly impressed with the opening track, You. It sounds like Eastern-inspired hip hop. There’s just something so natural about it; you can really see the influence that Japan has had on his music. For more, check out the whole album or Gold Panda’s other discography. I’m sure you’ll be happy you did. Oh, and as a fun bonus, here’s his unofficial remix of Chip Tha Ripper’s (B*tch I) Feel Good. Dope as hell panda beats.
To get a chance to see the panda man in action, check out his MySpace, where you can find an extensive list of his tour dates. He’s a busy, busy panda indeed.
