The sold-out Outside Lands Music Festival is almost here, featuring an eclectic lineup that includes acts like Nine Inch Nails, Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kaskade, Zedd, Dillon Francis, Pretty Lights, and more. San Francisco is already a-chatter about what is surely the biggest music event in the Bay Area.
As we all know, San Francisco is a center for technological innovation, and Outside Lands is embracing this by offering a new technology for festival-goers. If you’ve ever missed a special live music moment because you were facedown in your phone, your concert experience is about to change forever! Insurance company Esurance and innovation agency ClearHart Digital have come together to launch “the Insider Band,” a first-of-its-kind system of wearable tech that lets festival-goers stay connected, save memories, and even win prizes, all with a quick tap of the wrist.
Available only to 10,000 of the festival’s 75,000-a-day audience, the Insider Band is not your average festival wristband; a tiny NFC chip embedded inside each band is uniquely programmed to its wearer and connected to their Facebook profile. By tapping specially-marked towers around the festival, Insiders can take and upload photos, download set lists, remember their favorite drinks purchased from Outside Lands’ famous Beer and Wine Lands, and even win prizes such as VIP upgrades, festival bucks and Über credits. Most importantly, users can check in at different stages and landmarks, see where their friends are checked in, and send messages to their whole crew—all with a quick tap of the wrist. No more missing magical moments due to dying phones, lost friends, or spotty cell reception! Want to register for one? Click here!
