Born in the year 2259 and releasing their first work at the age of 2, Bucharest-based Romanian duo Tiberiu and Bogdan of OK Corral are no ordinary group. While no one is sure why OK Corral wrote 80s Bitter Flavours, rest assured that this 5-track EP is influenced by the 1980s and not the futuristic sounds of their time period.
While early releases garnered the attention of established Detroit techno DJs, by their fourth release OK Corral found their style meandering away from techno and towards the realms of nu-disco and funk, gaining the attention of Phonique and landing them on his never disappointing Berlin imprint, Ladies & Gentlemen.
The EP is an easy going fusion between deep house and disco, with a laid-back approach that facilitates an aural atmosphere of social interaction rather than the usual EDM fare of hedonistic dancing. Feeling oscillates between splashes of disco and late-blooming vocals with a spacey character that draws you in.
Happy Gutenberg, another up-and coming producer from Bucharest and the remixer behind Love Tingles, picks the energy up a notch, taking OK Corral into electro-funk territory, all while retaining the majesty of the original.
Last up, Thodoris Triantafillou & CJ Jeff crafted a remix of the titletrack that exudes close, sensual dancing and sex appeal. If you enjoyed these tracks, pick up Ok Corral’s 80s Bitter Flavours today off of Beatport.
