It’s one thing for house producers to remix house tunes, or even trance and dubstep tracks, but what happens when you take two incredibly distinct styles from say… Objekt, one of the year’s most intriguing young artists, and that of Radiohead the group that is… you know… Radiohead. The short answer is: a post here on LT3. Objekt’s rework of Bloom is a remix that happens to be a part of the band’s extensive remix series, a series featuring a who’s who of today’s experimental artistic class, including Four Tet, Lone, and Modeselektor. Objekt’s remix of Bloom magically manages to keep a true Radiohead feel while straying enough into the world of dark, techy beats to be labeled as classic Objekt (as classic as a 10 tune discography can be, at least!). As per usual you can tell that every level of production in this track sounds exactly as it was originally envisioned.
Additionally, I’ve tagged on Objekt’s remix of SBTRKT’s summer hit Wildfire. He takes the chill dubstep tune and beefs it up with a busy, kinetic techno beat. Good headphones or speakers are a must for these tunes, as it takes some performance on that front to understand not just the power of Objekt’s thuddy bass, but the intricacies of his artistic work.
