Belgian drum’n’bass producer-extraordinaire Netsky is a huge asset to the entire fabric of d’n’b, with his cross-genre appeal and highly musical production style. While his upcoming album release is only a month off, his newest EP Come Alive is the second taste of what fans can expect from his sophomore LP. The first tune released from the album, Give & Take, was also extraordinary, but Netsky’s newest EP Come Alive is an absolute stunner.
The first track on Come Alive is Netsky’s original mix (official video below)–a drumstep massacre with a sprinkling of liquid vibes and heavy dose of belting vocals. The surprising part of the original mix is its blending of several of the most popular contemporary production techniques. From formant vowel sounds to looping vocal samples, Netsky demonstrates why he’s one of the hottest producers in d’n’b right now. The first remix on the Come Alive EP comes from Andy C favorite Culture Shock. Everybody will see why Andy C rinses these guys’ tunes so much after the three-minute mark, when it transforms into a staggered, sub-bass salvo that just won’t quit. CS brilliantly layered in the original’s vocal samples, giving his remix a healthy dose of vibes from the original edit. For a grittier version, the Rockwell remix delivers a twisted, half-time rhythm with highly granular synth melodies. The coarseness of the lead synth that Rockwell has programmed can almost be felt in the back of the throat. From Netsky’s original edit to the dirty remix by Shogun’s Rockwell, every song on this EP is high-powered, dancefloor ammunition. Get the release here on Beatport!
