Nicolas Jaar has released his first solo EP in four years and has been tapped by acclaimed French film director Jacques Audiard to score his latest production, Dheepan.
Now that Jaar’s side project Darkside has officially seen its end, the producer has found the time to release his Nymphs II 12″. It is a creeping effort that carries with it all the slow ebbing effects and suspenseful hesitation that Jaar fans have come to expect from the eclectic producer. He shared the 12″ unexpectedly on YouTube with little information other than the two tracks that comprise the EP were “recorded in New York City between 2011 – 2015,” which melds well with his mysterious persona.
Adding to the news of this EP is the confirmation that he’s set to score multiple award-winning director Jacques Audiard’s newest film Dheepan. Jaar shared the news on his Twitter, saying, “it was an honor to work with Jacques Audiard on his new film.” The storyline follows three people as they escape the civil war in Sri Lanka and is scheduled to premiere later this month at the Cannes Film Festival.
