Nicky Romero unveiled his edit of R3hab and Lucky Date’s collaborative Rip It Up today, taking the already-heavy big room item up a couple notches on the energy scale.
Although as an edit, we won’t see massive overhauls to the initial R3hab and Lucky Date signature, but the Protocol boss is able to put his own spin on the track nonetheless. Romero retains the shuffle of sharp synth stabs from the original and puts extra emphasis on the soft melody that transforms halfway through the build and into the main section lead. After some vocal chopping, drop number two offers a bit more edge than the first, as Romero brings the synth stabs back in spades after a tense buildup.
Perhaps counterintuitively, the Nicky Romero edit will be out Dec. 9 on Protocol, followed by the original on Dec. 23.
