The catchiest song of 2012 thus far has finally been remixed into a proper dancefloor smasher. Gotye’s beautiful ballad Somebody That I Used To Know has been tweaked into a stellar big room track. The remixers go by the name of Magnus & Timon, and boy am I glad I discovered them a few days ago. These guys hail from Paris, the seemingly go-to place for sexual house music these days.
This remix of Somebody That I Used To Know has everything you’d want in a remix of a rock song–thumping basslines, anthemic buildups, and bouncing drops. For more of that big room sound, check out their version of Dirty South’s Walking Alone. It follows in the same vein, covering the listener in mountains of progressive candy. On Magnus & Timon’s SoundCloud, it says they just met last year! If talent like this is formed so casually, just imagine what artists like these are capable as they continue to work together. Rumor has it they are already being courted by some pretty big labels in the house world, so get ready to see these guys’ names everywhere.
