It’s just been a few short weeks and we’re posting about the Bassjackers again. It’s not that they don’t deserve the attention, but these guys are putting out records so fast it’s making all our heads spin. Don’t jump to conclusions, though; they’re a very long way from sacrificing quality for quantity. This time, they’ve cooked up two remixes of two Dutch trance legends–Tiësto and Ferry Corsten.
It’s no coincidence that the Bassjackers, masters of Dutch electro house, tap into their country’s most storied genre of dance music for the foundations of their massive tunes. Ferry Corsten’s Check It Out gets the classic Bassjackers treatment–huge drops and soul-pounding kicks. The great part, however, is how they opt to leave a trace of that trance big room majesty, usually working it straight into the buildup. The rework of the mighty Tiësto’s Maximal Crazy–the perfect name for pretty much any Bassjackers song–sports the same style, taking the bones of a the original and turning it into an absolute slaughterhouse. Join me as we take a ride on the ever-weakening line between trance and house.
