Take a listen to the impressive back-catalogue of Brighton-based duo My Digital Enemy, and it’s clear they’re all about one thing: solid, groovy, and catchy house music. It’s a trend that continues with Don’t Give Up, their latest release on their own label Zulu.
The standout feature of Don’t Give Up is its insanely catchy bass hook–a simple little riff, but combined with some epic production skill, it’s exactly what turns a track from set-filler to floor-destroyer. Along with the chopped-up vocal samples and jangly piano chords, there’s an essence of house that has been a constant since the ’90s, yet My Digital Enemy manages to take the tried-and-tested formula and keep it sounding modern and fresh, a rare talent which makes the duo an important asset to the scene.
Don’t Give Up is out now on Beatport.
