Who’s afraid of Detroit? With a lineup like Movement’s in 2012, who could be? Paxahau presents its annual music showcase this Memorial Day Weekend with its always-innovative array of artists. While the EDM scene has enjoyed an explosion in popularity over the past year with a recognizable group of festival mainstays, the organizers of Movement (formerly DEMF) have instead made it their duty to showcase the up-and-comers, the roots, and everything in between. Headliners of the three-day festival include the “founding father” of house music Lil Louis, trailblazing hip-hoppers Public Enemy, and The Wizard aka Jeff Mills. With such eclectic mainstage foundations, you know this lineup is going to be full of diverse and fresh acts meant to please the true music lovers. View the full lineup here.
A who’s who of house and techno, the Beatport and Main Stages will keep festival-goers bouncing all day and night. Claude VonStroke, Chris Liebing, and a special Seth Troxler/Guy Gerber b2b set are just a few of the highlights of these two hotspots. The Made In Detroit and Underground Stages present the best of the locals and stars on the rise, with acts such as FaltyDL, Carlo Lio, and techno second-waver Stacey Pullen. Finally, what true music festival would be complete without the Red Bull Music Academy making a cameo? The inventive group goes all out for Movement, bringing the likes of Brenmar, SBTRKT, araabMUZIK, Dillon Francis, and Hot Natured (Jamie Jones & Lee Foss) to Detroit’s Hart Plaza.
This festival is a can’t-miss, so make sure to buy your tickets as soon as possible! Also, if you’re still ready and raring to go when the festival ends each day, be sure to hit up the infamous afterparties to keep the party going.
