2011’s been an hot year for tech trance artists both new and veterans alike. Artists like W&W and Markus Schulz have reinvigorated me with their bold cross-genre releases that keep pushing the boundaries of trance.
This month, the hot streak continues with another name that’s starting to bubble out of the fold.
Introducing Carl Nunes–another sick tech talent from below the equator (see Klauss Goulart). The Guatemalan DJ has two new thrillers in his latest EP release. Silver Hawk and Lolita are hard-edged instrumental bangers crafted for very the late hours of a DJ set. While both tracks are on the more intense side of trance, any electronic music fan can appreciate the production value of these tracks. Dark yet nuanced, the songs are filled with rich and complex sounds derived from subgenres like techno and electro.
