Brooklyn’s beloved Mister Saturday Night parties have brought a real groove to the city that never sleeps, and now that groove is going worldwide with the launch of the Mister Saturday Night label. Partying with the Mister (actually two misters–Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin) is like partying with your closest friends; warm vibes, uplifting sounds, and carefree smiles. The label seeks to replicate that feeling, and the debut EP by Anthony Naples does it quite well.
Mad Disrespect, the EP’s title track, is the epitome of Brooklyn house. It’s warm and soulful, raw and vibrant, like the perfect Saturday night spent dancing. On Slackness, Anthony Naples eschews the deep tones of the first track and takes more of a UK bass route, melding heaps of percussion into an intriguing slice of techno. That welcome warmth then makes a comeback on Tusk, a bit more straightforward than the other two but still plenty funky.
This debut of both label and artist could not have gone any better, and we’ll be keeping an eye on both Anthony Naples and Mister Saturday Night in the months to come. Grab the release exclusively on wax at Discogs
