America’s Best DJ, an annual fan-voted award, has a new winner as Miami-based Markus Schulz will take home this year’s title.
The award is run by DJ Times magazine and Pioneer DJ, who set up fan voting at more than 20 club and festival events including Electric Daisy Carnival, Movement Festival, and North Coast Music Festival. Markus Schulz is taking home the award for the second time, following up his previous win in 2012. He takes the title from Kaskade, who was honored with the award last year. Schulz will be honored Oct. 12 in Las Vegas where he will receive the trophy–a personalized, gold-plated Pioneer mixer.
Markus Schulz spoke to DJ Times on receiving the award:
“Receiving this news is such an incredible honor. I have never been in this industry for the sole purpose of winning awards, and my biggest accomplishment in life is having the ability to connect and entertain those who believe in me and what I do on a daily basis. I’d like to thank everyone at DJ Times and Pioneer DJ for their continued support, all of the promoters who facilitate my passion in the clubs and festivals throughout North America, those who sacrifice in helping me achieve my dreams, and most of all, the fans, because without you, none of this is possible. Forever grateful for your love and support, and I look forward on our continued journey into the future.”
Schulz was in good company as he beat out some of the best DJs in the world for the title. Take a look at the final results (complete list here):
