When he’s not running his own hugely successful Toolroom brand, British house legend Mark Knight somehow still finds time to release tracks on other labels. For his new work Second Story, he makes his second appearance on cat-obsessed Suara, fresh off the back of remixing Y.E.A.H by label head Coyu and fellow Spaniard Ramiro Lopez.
Fitting into the label’s sound effortlessly, Second Story is built upon relentless rhythms and a booming techy production style. There’s plenty of Knight’s signature dishes on the table too, with some old-school disco samples, the odd vocal snippet, and a viciously groovy bassline. It’s a nice mix of styles that plays to Mark’s ability to get creative in the studio, while still firmly concentrating on what people know and love. It’s a skill that also bleeds into his work as a DJ, and with a seemingly endless calender of dates around the world this summer, you might just be able to catch Second Story being spun live by the man himself.
