Techno legend Marco Carola is set to headline a rather unique event in Liverpool on April 4, as Cream and Freeze team up to present The Asylum, an all-day event at the abandoned Newsham Park Hospital on the outskirts of the city.
Newsham Park was originally set up as an orphanage before being turned into a mental asylum in the mid-20th century. Lying abandoned and boarded up for 20 years, the looming gothic building has since attracted the attention of ghost-hunters and urban explorers. Now it’s primed to attract the attention of hordes of techno lovers, as Music On founder Carola prepares to fill the venue’s open-air courtyard with cutting-edge beats.
The action kicks off at 1 p.m. and continues until 10:30 p.m., at which point the action moves to the less haunting surroundings of Cream’s home at Nation in the city centre. Both events are covered by the same ticket, so revellers will get a full 16 hours of music and two events for the price of one.
You can pre-register for tickets now, with general sale starting on Feb. 6. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for the full lineup announcement due out soon.
