As one of the most serenaded cities in history, New York’s had ballads written for her by artists from Frank Sinatra all the way up to Azealia Banks, and although she takes the cake for most offensive on Twitter, MANIK’s 718 topped the pile today with a groovy house homage to the other boroughs.
An unofficial ambassador for New York’s flowering house scene for some time, MANIK made it official today with a free download of his latest, 718. As the first track to come out of his new home studio, the 718-er packs the tune with subtle acid notes, a smooth beat and a simple vocal clip, making 718 a no muss, no fuss piece of working man’s house music worthy of representing that which is not Manhattan.
Pick it up for free here, and keep an eye on this one. We anticipate being continually impressed with the Brooklyn beat scene in the coming months, and we fully expect MANIK to be involved, whether on his own or as part of his new indie synth rock band, Shadow Lanes.
