The wait is officially over, folks. After teasing us with a short video and then an extended preview, 19-year-old French phenom Madeon has finally dropped his newest (and possibly greatest) original song, Technicolor. It probably goes without saying by now, but hot damn, are you kidding me?
The track he described as a “spiritual successor” to his 2012 release Icarus, Technicolor is everything you’d expect it to be, and more. As the name suggests, Technicolor is vivid, vibrant, and totally breathtaking. Epic is an understatement here–think angels crying before the glory of heaven-type stuff. To accompany the upload, he wrote:
“My goal was to tell a story through dance music using a longer structure than what i’ve done before.”
Incredibly immersive, Technicolor pulls you this way and that through a series of arpeggios and ecstatic synths that are entirely too easy to disappear into. I almost wish I could go back and listen to it for the first time again; it’s that good. You can purchase the new song here, straight from Madeon himself. Enjoy.
