French phenom Madeon put out his The City Remix EP today, serving both new takes on older hits as well as a few disco-gone-D&B remixes from a few of the game’s top contenders.
We covered the title track a few weeks back, but the real meat and potatoes here are the aforementioned revisions. Madeon rejuvenates his 2012 single Icarus with the release of the tune’s Live Version. Extended builds show that Madeon knows how to play to the crowd and offers some insight as to what the young star does behind the decks during his set.
Relative newcomers Fred V & Grafix were summoned for a remix of Icarus as well. Their D&B take is catchy, liquid and clever. The original tune is intact, but there’s no denying that Fred V & Grafix spun it their own way, resulting in a unique mix that really broadens the scope of the original. D&B legend Netsky also hopped on remix duty, giving a more juiced up yet still smooth remix of Madeon’s Finale. Captivating and melodic, and not too aggressive, this would be the perfect tune to substitute for those end-of-set big room house tracks that bring a crowd together.
