After many months, edits, and revisions, we are proud to release downtempo prodigy Madeaux‘s first official EP. A concise offering of four original tracks shows that this young producer not only has some serious production chops but a vision and a developed sound all his own. While Madeaux’s debut is technically an EP, the release is best seen as a 20 minute getaway of first-class proportions.
Departing is the first leg of the journey, an upscale yet warm welcome to Madeaux’s signature chopped and screwed electro-soul sound. Transatlantic Rhapsody paints an oceanic landscape, focusing on imagery and good vibes. Vocal cuts and classic movie samples make this track a standout, acting as unexpected yet crucial brushstrokes in a vivid picture. Midnight Sun introduces ThisIsMusic signee Beca on the vocals, which accompany an array of percussion and a purring bass that we can’t get enough of. The release closes with Accidentals, the darkest and bassiest of the lot.
Individually, the tracks are great, and they get even better when taken as a whole. Head on over to Beatport to grab the release and keep an eye out for a new Madeaux remix dropping on LessThan3 Recordings in the coming weeks.
