The one and only Tiësto blew SoCal’s minds away last year with his historic concert at the Home Depot Center. On Thursday, the dance music legend took over San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center for an epic party that no one will soon forget. The stands of the sports arena were packed from bottom to top with all his diehard fans, and the raging dancefloor also had loads of shufflers who were going at it all night long.
LessThan3 favorite Tommy Trash opened up for Tiësto with an eclectic set that soared high with big room fury but also dropped down low for some surprisingly minimal tracks. He kept the momentum of the party going strong and showcased his many brilliant, newer releases like Truffle Pig, Sunrise (Won’t Get Lost), and his latest with A-Trak, Tuna Melt. Another tune that resonated really well with the audience was his bootleg mashup of Unite Us by PNAU with Kids by MGMT.
As the clock struck midnight, the lights in the room dimmed and the everyone grew incredibly tense with anticipation as Tiësto made his way up to the stage. He began by setting off huge eruptions in the crowd with his massive track Chasing Summers (video below). The intense energy grew even larger with every relentless banger he threw down, including Showtek and Justin Prime’s Cannonball, one of the latest beasts on his label Musical Freedom. Tiësto had loads of fans singing along to tunes like We Own The Night, Make Some Noise, and Zedd’s Clarity.
The man drew enormous applause when he got on the mic and asked “Who wants some old school Tiësto?” and then let loose his unforgettable trance classics like Silence and Adagio For Strings. Another terrific surprise was how he lit up the room with the Carnage’s Festival Trap mix of Spaceman by Hardwell and then mixed into his unreleased remix of the hardstyle track Loose by Noisecontrollers and Showtek.
