On a most rare occasion, the private studio of Mr. Brainwash was transformed into a full on Hollywood red carpet event hosted by T-Mobile and Google’s Android on Wednesday night in a celebration of the launch of Google’s music platform. The director’s warehouse was fully decorated with graffitti art; on the outside, loads of cardboard Stormtroopers lined the top of the building. A posse of T-Mobile girls wearing hipster frames helped party goers try out Google Music on the latest Droid smartphones and tablets. This was definitely a night to remember in the tech world.
Highlighting the rising popularity of EDM, the lively party had Dirty South and R3hab share the stage with today’s biggest names in pop, including Maroon 5, Drake, and Busta Rhymes. The stage may not have been as full for house music, but the thumping beats really hit well with LA’s finest ladies, including the T-Mobile girls who all stormed the dancefloor. Overall, it was a wild night that helped reaffirm EDM’s place alongside hip hop and rock, in addition to pointing out the rising celebrity status of DJs.
