It very well may be the City of Angels but trust me, LA gets down! Just last Sunday my city showed Fool’s Gold how we do it at their Day Off LA Party as they treated us to an eclectic mix of funky house, thuggish hip hop, and of course ruthless trap music. Hosted at the The Shrine by USC, the show flew off the chain with strong urban vibes and some of the dirtiest dancing to ever hit this venue.
Right when we got to the premises, we saw and felt the thriving energy of the party; all around girls were shaking it and there was nearly always somebody crowdsurfing. Congorock threw down tribal electro before getting into some nasty trap like the Oh Snap!! Trap Go Hard Mix of his smash hit Babylon. Afterwards, things got even more wild as The Cool Kids stepped up to the stage and summoned an army of hip hop fans.
Chromeo’s (pictured below with A-Trak) set was the “afternoon delight” of the show as they served up some disco house alongside some electro remixes of their songs like Shreddie Mercury’s version of Night By Night. No question about it, they totally won over the girls in the crowd with their retro, love-making grooves. Later in the set they switched it up and dove straight into ’90s gangster rap.
Ending with a bang, the king of Fool’s Gold and world-famous turntablist A-Trak took over and showed everyone how its done. He was rather modest at first about his mixing skills, but further into his set he began to scratch and loop aggressively as he bounced around from genre to genre. The crowd showed A-Trak mad <3 as he expressed his gratitude on the mic to roaring applause. Currently on tour, don’t miss your chance to catch this pro in action.
