Due to the unfortunate EDC drama that continues to plague rave culture, the glorious festival and parade known as LovEvolution (formerly Love Fest) was cancelled in 2010. Many who attended the huge 2009 party held in the San Francisco city square were heartbroken. LovEvolution welcomed over 100,000 people, employed 250 DJs on 13 floats, and even headlined Deadmau5 at the killer afterparty (see YouTube video below). Many of us began to wonder if we’d ever get to experience such things again.
Luckily for us, LovEvolution 2011 is happening, and it’s set to be even bigger and better than before! Set to take place on Saturday, September 24th at the O.co Coliseum (home to the Raiders) in Oakland, California, the day portion is set to begin at noon and end at 8PM. This time around, LovEvolution will host 20 floats holding an army of DJs, including big league players like Moby, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Dash Berlin, Blake Jarrell, and many more. Additionally, there’ll be Glitch Mob, Pendulum, Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation, and Plump DJs playing sets at the massive coliseum mainstage. Stilt walkers, contortionists and other performers will also be there to mesmerize the audience.
As is tradition, the promoter Skills will be hosting an epic afterparty at the next-door Oracle Arena. While some of the aforementioned DJs will also spin sets at stages during the day portion, Laidback Luke will join the festival and spin a set exclusively at the afterparty. If you’d like to win tickets to the afterparty, be sure to enter to win a pair via our giveaway page on Facebook.
