Time Warp will be making its sophomore stop on US shores Nov. 20-21 at the Bedford-Union Armory in Crown Heights, New York City, but some local residents and an Assembly member want to make sure that it doesn’t happen.
Speaking with DNAinfo, Walter Mosley, the representative of the 57th district of the New York State Assembly, revealed that he has launched inquiries with City Hall and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services after receiving complaints from residents of the NYC neighbourhood, who were concerned about intoxicated partygoers and a lack of parking,
“This is something that residents of north Crown Heights were extremely concerned about… What was the process by which they selected this particular armory?”
Despite claims by Mosley that the DCAS is “not moving forward with the event,” a spokeswoman from agency says only that they are currently “reviewing the application” for Time Warp.
Attorney Richard Hurley, the leader of a local group of block associations, has warned residents in a series of emails that the event will bring “noise, garbage, alcohol, drugs” and “police action” to the area.
Reached for a comment, a representative of Time Warp was confident that the festival will move forward as planned:
“All procedures thus far have been properly handled… We are underway for a seamless event at Bedford Union Armory.”
Last year’s event was forced to relocate from the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx after news came out that Time Warp had not secured proper permits for the space. The event was eventually held at the 39th Street Pier in Sunset Park. This year’s event will feature Sven Vath, Tale Of Us, Len Faki, and more.
