Straight out of the burgeoning Colorado indie electronica scene comes another purveyor of mellow, wobbly beats: Timeline. Taking cues from the likes of fellow Colorado musicians Paper Diamond and Pretty Lights, Timeline’s brand of dubstep is glitchy, hip-hoppy and gloriously melodic, emphasizing depth over intensity in a rare exception to modern dubstep.
The two-sided release in question here is Substances. Dead To Me, the A-side, is a mind-blowing dubstep symphony, luring the listener into a lush, massive soundscape. The atmospheric feel of Timeline’s wobs place them right in Luvstep territory, making me pretty much an instant fan. The second track, Drugs, is decidedly B-side in nature, opting for a darker but equally intriguing sound.
