North London duo Leolife have carved a name for themselves as masters of uplifting trance with a progressive edge. Their latest release sees more of the same–it’s big and epic, yet somehow slightly smooth and relaxed.
Plaza is one of those big, shouty trance tracks–the sort you see Armin blasting out to a packed arena. It’s got a raspy saw riff, a stomping rhythm and an epic production style that instantly conjures images of strobe lights and ten thousand people jumping up and down in unison. Yet despite the sheer stadium feel of Plaza, there’s an emotional undertone to the whole thing, like someone has taken care to write a piece of music rather than just concentrate on what will send a crowd mental. It’s very refreshing–well-written and well-produced–full of energy and atmosphere.
