Whoa, this one’s on fire. Lee Foss (pictured), Chicago native of Hot Natured and Hot Creations fame, has teamed up with Detroit legend Marc Kinchen and L.A.’s Anabel Englund for a stunning single and one of the most solid releases on Lee’s label to date.
Electricity is the kind of track that gets in your head and doesn’t leave for weeks. Thunder claps and lightning bolts make up a subtle yet sexy deep house groove, but the undeniable star here is Englund. Her voice glides with longing on a memorable poppy hook before fading away into the distance, lending the track a universal appeal that’s at home with other acclaimed Hot Creations releases like Benediction and Forward Motion.
Lee and MK get together again on Goodnight Moon, a jackin’ house stomper with the cheeky sample taken from The Wire. Infectious, deep keys stab into the dance floor and spacey synths glimmer through the air, a theme that continues on Lee’s solo effort, Could Be. The release is capped off by B5 The Dinks, another ode to the Baltimore-based crime drama that’s laced with some fresh West Coast hip-hop vibes.
