UPDATED: Dillon Francis shared an Instagram video previewing his upcoming collaboration with Kygo:
Tropical house has officially hit the big leagues, and its poster boy Kygo has the goods to prove it, including a deal with Ultra Music and a new collab with Dillon Francis.
He has spent the past year championing the burgeoning genre and landing official remixes for the likes of Ed Sheeran, M83, and Coldplay’s Midnight, and it turns out the young Norwegian is only getting warmed up.
Kygo signed a recording contract with Sony Music and its subsidiary Ultra for worldwide distribution of Kygo’s forthcoming material including a debut album, which is now in its formative stages.
“We’re delighted to be working with Kygo, who is an extraordinarily talented musician, with unique melodies,” Patrick Moxey, President of Electronic Dance Music at Sony and President of Ultra Music, wrote in the announcement. “He represents the new breed of electronic sound. Kygo’s assembled a massive group of fans through the internet and we’re excited for the next stage of his growth.”
As for what to expect on that new album, we don’t know much, but we do know Kygo has collaborated on a new track with EDM class clown Dillon Francis thanks to Twitter and Instagram.
Damn @KygoMusic and I made a really killer song today...we are both extremely happy with what we got so far— Dillon Francis (@DILLONFRANCIS) September 4, 2014
Between studio sessions, Kygo will also be embarking on his North American tour kicking off in late September.
