Austrian bass masters Camo & Krooked are back with yet another EP. Building up to their upcoming full LP release, the duo has released two new productions–In the Future and Make the Call. You can pick up the EP on iTunes now, and the full LP Cross the Line is set to be released “soon.” With this EP release, the group seems to be moving into a markedly more mainstream sound; the drops don’t hit too hard and the woobles aren’t too wide. Nonetheless, the production quality is tip-top, and with the included dubstep and drum’n’bass mixes of Make the Call, Camo & Krooked manage to maintain their historic “dirtiness”.
In the Future is a straightforward liquid drum’n’bass production with a pulsing bassline and ethereal female vocals provided by Jenna G . It goes down smooth and, with the help of collaborator Futurebound, provides a refined contrast to some of their more dark and gritty releases. Of the three flavors of Make the Call included on the EP, the drum’n’bass and dubstep versions are the most memorable. For me, these reworkings have the necessary amount of bite the original lacks.
