The tragedies of Nov. 13 in France’s capital have inspired bass music veteran Kill Paris to change his name.
For the iconic purveyor of baby-making glitch hop sometimes referred to as “lovestep,” having a stage name that recalls one of the ugliest days in Paris’ history simply will not do. While the name Kill Paris, which he picked out at the age of 16, actually references to Juliet’s suitor in Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, the artist born Corey Baker is now officially going by Chill Harris.
Baker elaborated in a Facebook post:
“While there is tragedy everywhere, every day, and every person has their own, the events in Paris yesterday have made me feel that my name as an artist is not appropriate anymore. What my music stands for is love and peace, and I hope my fans know that. Moving forward, I do not want people to get the wrong idea about me and my music just because I’ve gone under a particular pseudonym.”
