When it comes to heart-stopping drops on the big stage, one name comes to mind: Jacob van Hage. As one of the first trance producers to successfully merge with genres like dubstep and electro house, it’s taken less than a year for the young man to put his name on the global DJ map. Not just an innovator but a talented dance producer with bold musicality, Jacob van Hage’s aggressive brand of trance is more or less perfected for late-night raging. Hage’s borderless style offers a distinct sound that’s fun, and sometimes a shock to the ears–check out his track Convoi for an example, which charted in the our Top 15 Trance Tracks of 2011.
It’s not all about hard drops and dubstep breakdowns for the Dutchman. Catchy melodies and unique sound effects are what keep Hage’s name in the game. Last time I wrote about him, I didn’t get to share all my favorite Hage tracks. A new remix of Arrive To Schiphol Plaza incorporates everything there is to love about Hage, including some hard techy breakdowns. An earlier 2011 release, Sunset Canon, has found a quite a bit of recent play on my iPhone during holiday travels. The fast-paced track draws you right in with a catchy melody, funky synths, and addictive grooves.
