Breakout tech house star Justin Jay mixes charging ’80s synth pop vibes with classic techno grooves for a sinister and funky take on Barnt’s 2014 single Chappell.
Barnt’s original is a testimonial to the perpetual excellence of stentorian basslines. Jay doesn’t remove any of the original’s ferocity, but rather weaves into, under, and around those synthesized basslines, drums, guitar plucks, and synth progressions to add to the track’s inherent dancefloor thunder. Moreso than anything, the story here is hearing Justin Jay continue to discover a greater number of rock-style outlets for his expansively creative mind.
Jay himself has stated the following regarding this remix:
“With Benny Bridges on the guitar, I saw this techno anthem by Barnt as a way to start messing around with Henry’s crazy drum sounds. We had so much fun making it and even more fun playing it live. With it being the holiday season, we wanted to give it to you guys (especially DJ’s who need an extra jam for those holiday sets).”
