Swedish pop duo JJ have released All White Everything, a brand new track from their eagerly anticipated album V.
V is the third full-length record from Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander in their discography of plainly titled releases, the most recent being 2012’s jj n° 4 single. According to Benon, V is the culmination of the duo’s work leading up to its release:
“I’d say we’ve been working on this album our whole lives. It’s the thing I’ve always wanted to do. I feel that we’ve been working on this album ever since we began to record music. We have never really had any other plan than to make this V shit happen and at the same time we never knew what it was–the story presented itself to us–and it’s a story that’s always been clear.”
Their latest track All White Everything sounds more like a James Blake B-side than the duo’s usual electro pop tone. Melancholic piano riffs creep over Kastlander showcasing her vocal chops as the song builds into a whirlwind of wistful beats and dysphoric downtempo.
V is out August 19 via Secretly Canadian/Sincerely Yours. Watch the surreal trailer for the album below:
