In fattening up and deepening the soothing chop of tropical house’s relaxed style, New York City’s Jenaux has turned Kygo’s hit Nothing Left into a big room banger with an awfully funky feel.
Jenaux himself refers to his sound as “big room funk,” and the style feels like the less organically soulful cousin of what performers like GRiZ are up to these days. The track drops into a swing, which is a notable stylistic development given that the dembow-like feel of tropical house could lend the New Yorker’s inventive production style into being very lucrative with moombahton’s pop resurgence. Jenaux’ traveled all over the sonic map of late, and in this sound he may have found a place to stop and evolve as a producer.
