Over a short period of time, Futureboogie has skyrocketed from a weekly club night showcasing the deeper side of house in Bristol, England, into a full-fledged, international brand. After Julio Bashmore’s raging success, the label continues to find and nurture talented artists, and for 2013 they’ve melded the likes of established bass-master Hackman (pictured) and the versatile Jabru together as Bruh Jackman for their self-titled debut EP.
Opening up with Miss My Love, the duo fuses subdued keys and a killer vocal hook over a raw, whirring bassline. Just To Keep, with its bright percussion and quick-stabbing chords over even more irresistible vocals, shines on this EP as the dance-floor killer. Joel Culpepper, hailed as Britain’s answer to Frank Ocean, shows off his vocal range on the mellow R&B of California, adding a sultry and seductive vibe to its broken beats and dissonant pads. All these tracks plus an instrumental of California are available for purchase on Beatport today.
