California native J. Rabbit made quite a name for himself in 2012, remixing the likes of Skrillex, Kill the Noise, Figure, and many of the scene’s other top acts. However, it was his original EP Learning To Time Travel that pushed J. Rabbit’s profile through the stratosphere, showcasing his talent as a producer. Now, the bass progenitor returns with a remix of Less is Snore by rising house artist Kevin Focus, with the full EP coming by way of Dim Mak Records. While the original mix is a stand up house anthem in its own right, J. Rabbit’s retooling incorporates enough gutter-funk to leave bass heads smiling from ear-to-ear.
J. Rabbit isn’t afraid to explore new territory with his new remix of Less is Snore. After cutting his teeth on dubstep and drum & bass for so many years, the Californian demonstrates his versatility by going full Admiral Ackbar with his latest remix. Featuring a screeching lead and much of the original’s melody, J. Rabbit elects to leave out the resonant 808 kick drums in favor of powerful sub-bass for his trap rework. Usual elements like rolling hats and synthetic snares show up early in the mix–both necessary ingredients for skanky trap flavor. Catch this tune on the local club system to hear bass turnt up to 11!
