Los Angeles is home to pretty much every sort of genre, including styles across the spectrum of EDM. One genre that is really up-and-coming is indietronica. Many artists of this genre are getting high-profile gigs now, like Daedelus (pictured) and Nosaj Thing, who both got to spin sets at Hollywood’s premier club The Avalon on December 9th. Also sharing the stage were two dudes from Nashville, Tennessee named Two Fresh that impressed the crowd with some gritty glitch hop.
Daedelus is kind of a big deal for several reasons. Not only does he always throw down uniquely creative sets, but he rocks Victorian attire and works with a uniquely creative MIDI controller called a monome. The LA native stayed true to his unpredictable nature Friday night but also threw in some of his most popular tunes, including Fair Weather Friends. Closing the night came the master of experimental visuals and sounds, Nosaj Thing. He dropped some of his greatest productions with his Akai MPC controller, including Aquarium, his remix of Islands by The xx, and closed out his set with N*ggas In Paris by Kanye West and Jay-Z.
