Last month marked the release of the much-anticipated trance compilation “In Search of Sunrise 8: South Africa.’ After 7 volumes, Tiesto has left the holy franchise after selling his share of Black Hole Recordings. He is planning to launch his own label, as well as a new compilation series known as “A New Dawn,” set to release in the fall. The keys to the ISOS series have fallen into the lucky lap of Richard Durand, a name that has rapidly heated up the trance world with big remixes, including Armin van Buuren’s “In & Out of Love” in 2008.
Fortunately for ISOS fans, Richard Durand’s mix lives up to the franchise name, delivering some of the most refreshing trance sounds I’ve heard in awhile. The mix incorporates a deeper and more progressive sound than past volumes and other compilation releases, including Armin Van Buuren’s “A State of Trance” and Above & Beyond’s “Anjunabeats” volumes. Some of the stellar tracks on the album include progressive instrumentals “Ocean Terrace” by Daniel Wanrooy and “Pillars of the Earth” by Ben Presten, as well as vocal track “N.Y.C” by Richard Durand & JES.
Don’t give up on ISOS just because Tiesto is gone; Richard Durand is more than capable to continue the franchise’s top-notch sound.
