In just a few short years, London-based producer Ilan Bluestone has gone from fresh-faced Anjunabeats remixer to one of the mainstays of the label. His latest EP is the epitome of his work, featuring a range of solid, progressive trance that is very familiar, but still quirky enough to catch the attention of even the most cynical EDM buff.
The Big Ben EP features three examples of why Ilan is so highly rated–a showcase of his talent for creating progressive trance with equal doses of ‘big’ and ‘uplifting’ alongside ‘mellow’ and ‘chilled.’ The title track features an infectious riff that ranges from ’80s-style pads to a massive lead synth that sounds like it’s tripping over itself in a clever and quirky piece of arrangement. Elyisum is all big room stabs and long, chilled breaks, while closing track Waves Of LA is more on that prog house tip–big and brash, with a harsh-yet-catchy lead.
The Big Ben EP is out now as a Beatport Exclusive.
