Toronto’s denizen of the dark, Hunter Siegel, lifted the veils on his chosen sound today with Waiting Up, his first original single. Siegel’s debut solo track gives us the first few brushstrokes in the shadowy producer’s sonic image, one that we’ve only seen through remix work until now.
Inspired by feelings of late-night longing, Waiting Up falls around the same territory as delicious cuts we’ve heard out of Jack Beats or Tchami lately. The feel-good groove and upbeat nature of classic house are modernized with contemporary elements like distorted chords and frenetic, chopped-up vocals.
A self-described 25-hour-a-day artist, expect more good things from this one in the not-so-distant future. Pick up your free copy of Waiting Up here.
