The all-new Hudson Project music and arts festival will make its home at the Saugerties, NY site of the ’94 Woodstock event with a bass-heavy lineup boasting Excision, Bassnectar, Flying Lotus, and more.
Organizers SFX Entertainment and MCP Presents (Camp Bisco, Counterpoint, TomorrowWorld) revealed the first round of artists today, which will offer three days of music and art across five stages, including one dedicated to live performances. Stay tuned for the next round of artists to be announced.
Insomniac was gunning for the site last year to host the New York edition of Electric Daisy Carnival, but after discussion with local officials and owners of the proposed venue Winston Farm, those involved “did not feel comfortable hosting a dance music festival on their site.”
I guess we’ve changed our mind on this small detail, because with a comparable number of stages featuring similar acts and even carnival rides (no joke), the only real difference here is the Insomniac name, which may have been met with apprehension as the mainstream’s highest-profile proprietor of “raving,” that activity that’s ruining our youth. Another possibility is cold, hard cash–an asset of which we know SFX to be in possession of a ton. Either way, SFX and MCP have succeeded where Insomniac failed, but the only true measure of success will be found in the execution of the event itself.
Get tickets beginning April 11, which start at $185 for three days’ GA, and more info here.
